The Presidential Fiscal Policy & Tax Reforms Committee is pleased to announce the commencement of a Train-the-Trainers Program for Professionals on the new tax reform laws. The program, which seeks to leverage the power of many, is a volunteer-driven initiative designed to equip professionals with deeper knowledge and resources to enhance their skills and capacity for effective implementation of the new tax reform laws.
Objectives:
- Build a nationwide critical pool of trained professionals who can explain, interpret, and guide businesses, institutions, and individuals on the new tax reforms.
- Foster ownership of the reforms among professionals (lawyers, accountants, economists, tax practitioners, journalists and content creators etc).
- Strengthen implementation capacity by ensuring accurate understanding of regulations, other subsidiary legislation, and operational guidelines.
- Ensure that the reform implementation is proactive, transparent, and inclusive.
Target Audience:
Professionals involved in finance and tax matters including but not limited to:
- Members of professional bodies such as the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
- Social science professionals such as economists, public policy experts, management consultants, and lecturers
- Industry and public sector tax personnel
- Finance journalists and content creators
Programme Structure:
Stage 1 – Indication of interest
- Open portal for professionals to sign up from 1 November – 15 November 2025.
- Include a short commitment statement to undertake the program and train others
- Target pool of 3,000+ professionals across all geopolitical zones.
Stage 2 – Training Delivery
- Virtual Modules: Foundational overview of reforms (tax policy principles, structure and content of the new tax laws, sectoral impacts etc).
- In-Person Regional Bootcamps: Deeper, practice-focused workshops with case studies.
- Platform for experience sharing
Stage 3 – Assessment & Deployment
- Recognition as Skilled Tax Reform Professional.
- Volunteers may be listed in a public directory by state/zone to support businesses, institutions, associations and community groups.
- Access and input to draft regulations & guidance notes before public release.
- Priority invitations to stakeholder roundtables.
- Training materials and toolkits for onward education.
Faculty:
- Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee members, international technical professionals, subject matter experts, academics, tax administrators, and tax practitioners.
Key Features:
- No Participation Fee: Training is free of charge for participants.
- Minimum participation: Attend a minimum of 80 percent of training contact hours
- Earned Value Model: Commit to at least one free-of-charge awareness event.
- Network Building: Advocates join a professional peer-to-peer platform for knowledge sharing and updates.
Expected Outcomes:
- A critical mass of trained professionals across Nigeria who can explain reforms with authority.
- Reduced misinformation, as professionals become the “go-to” voices in their communities.
- Improved compliance capacity in businesses, especially SMEs.
- A pipeline of civil society allies who advocate the need for the reforms in public discourse.
