In a recent statement, Mr Taiwo Oyedele the chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Refoms Committee expressed concerns about the lack of accountability and transparency in the budgeting practices of Local Government Areas (LGAs).
To improve governance and ensure effective resource allocation, he proposed that LGAs should prioritize the development of comprehensive 3-5-year development plans.
Furthermore, the chairman announced the government’s intention to introduce legislation that would make it illegal for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to hoard data. This measure aims to promote open data practices and enhance public access to information.
